FreeTON becomes Everscale: Inspired by technology

It’s official: We go by Everscale now. We let go of the TON brand and legacy so that we could advance to a new project phase.

The upcoming migration to the Rust node has enabled a recent breakthrough on throughput, moving away from the C++ code and creating perfect momentum for rebranding.

After we reached consensus at the end of September to rebrand, there was a broad brainstorming process with multiple branding ideas coming from the community, global governance meetings, and the Wachsman consulting firm.

Together, we arrived at the decision to develop a brand reflecting the network’s biggest strength: Scalability in performance, transparency and decentralization.

A final shortlist of seven potential names (Everscale, Hyperscale, Nucleus, Seqond, Scaled, Protos, and Finality) was formulated, all were analyzed for SEO prospects and trademark availability, and a clear winner emerged — Everscale. The name has sound SEO prospects as well as trademark availability in key classifications.

Most importantly, the name Everscale accurately reflects our position in the market: Unlimited scalability of governance, community, performance and adoption.

The name received unanimous support in the preliminary vote of the global governance meeting and majority support in the community vote.

Recognizing that our corporate blue was far too traditional-looking, we selected a bold color palette of “fiery orange to galactic highway,” with multiple accent colors to better represent technology, speed and openness to innovation.

We transferred the principle of infinite scalability to our brand identity’s design. Playing with space, perspective and color is paralleled with the immersive nature of endless blockchain entries.

Kultura co-founder Oleksii Salnykov said, “The design is simple, robust, and shows Everscale for what it is — a scalable system with endless blockchain entries. We were inspired by the idea of reverse perspective: When objects at a distance are not contracting, but expanding. So Everscale’s visual style is underpinned by this idea of endless expansion via repeating and upscaling identical shapes without any distortion, endlessly.”

The logo represents perspective and rising motion. In a symbolic nod to its predecessor, Everscale’s logo slightly resembles that of TON Crystal if rotated 135° degrees clockwise.

The rebranding includes a top-to-bottom redesign of the company’s website, logo, brand identity and vision. Everscale’s new brand assets include a simplified, monochrome logo, along with a new website and other visual communications that utilize simple, bold graphics to convey complex solutions clearly.
